Adan Saucedo Gonzalez
Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Performance Coach
My name is Adan Saucedo Gonzalez, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-9873) in the state of Idaho and a Mental Performance Coach with a background in clinical mental health counseling and sport and performance psychology.
My professional and academic journey has been shaped by a longstanding interest in a simple yet complex question:
What allows people to grow, perform, adapt, and become the best version of themselves?
That question has led me through multiple areas of psychology, counseling, higher education, and collegiate athletics—and ultimately to the development of CIMA Mental Performance & Counseling Services.

Questions About Cima
-
I have extensive experience working with athletes in basketball at the high school and college (NAIA) levels, as well as high school football, and observational experience with the NMSU football program during my time on the support staff from 2022 through my work scholars position. I also have a background in cross‑country running at both the high school and Division I levels.
However, mental performance principles apply across all sports. Skills such as confidence, focus, emotional regulation, resilience, and pressure management are relevant whether an athlete competes in basketball, football, volleyball, soccer, track and field, swimming, baseball, softball, wrestling, golf, dance, cheer, or any other competitive sporting activity. Mental Performance training is designed to support athletes in any sport.
-
Not necessarily.
Mental performance services are available in person in the Coeur d’Alene, ID, and Spokane, WA areas, and remotely to clients anywhere in the United States.
Counseling services, however, follow different rules. Counseling is currently in development and will be offered once all requirements for scope of practice are fully met. Because counseling involves clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning, it can only be provided to Idaho residents, as my professional licensure is held in the state of Idaho. Once counseling services are active and approved by the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL), CIMA will then be able to provide both Mental Performance and Counseling Services.
Mental performance services → available to anyone in any U.S. state
Counseling services → available only to Idaho residents
CIMA currently provides mental performance and sport psychology services only.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-9873) in the State of Idaho and currently practice under the supervision of Mark Gritton, LCPC-4894. Idaho LPC licensure is a transitional credential toward becoming a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), which permits independent clinical practice.
Clinical mental health counseling services are not currently offered through CIMA. These services are planned for future development pending completion of supervised clinical experience, required examinations, licensure requirements, and approval by the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL).
Once all requirements have been met, CIMA can expand to offer both mental performance and clinical mental health counseling services.
Future services, including expanded clinical mental health counseling, future aspirations of psychological assessment, or other forms of care, including prescribing medication, will not be offered until the appropriate education, training, credentials, and regulatory requirements have been completed in the near future.
All services advertised on this website reflect the services I am currently qualified, authorized, and prepared to provide. At this time, those services are limited to mental performance and sport psychology support services.
